Gary Wittstock took the two amazing photographs below.

Gary says this about the top photo: “The Black Racer Snake was from earlier this summer as he sunned in my ferns. Really miss him as after about 3 weeks he seems to have disappeared. Either better hunting OR….dinner for the hawks.”

The photo below shows a Southern Black Racer with cloudy bluish eyes.  This is a sign the snake is about ready to shed its skin.
