 Alligator Photo Album

Thank you for stopping by the TGO Nature Center’s Alligator Photo Album. Alligators live among us at TGO.  Below is a collection of photographs submitted by some TGO photographers showing some of our reptilian neighbors.  Click on a photograph to enlarge to get “up close and personal” to these ancient animals.

Jim Coyle shot the two photos below of an Alligator with a Raccoon on February 21, 2017.

On February 7, 2017, this alligator paid Ron and Jan Mortemore on Sunset Drive a visit as it laid next to their outdoor table and chair set. The gator was not pleased by  the Mortemores intruding on its space as it hissed at them to show its displeasure. Eddie Hammond came to the rescue by spraying the gator with water from a garden hose until it wandered off.  Thank you, Eddie!

On February 16, 2016, Pat Ellwanger shot the photo below of two very large alligators lying out behind the ports on Greenwing (Spartana Lakes).  I wonder if “alligator love” is coming a little early this year!

Angeline Horton shared the three photos below when she sent this note “Hi Darlene! Here are 3 pictures I took Dec. 2014 but still like to share them with you.  It was quite and encounter!”

This is what Angeline has printed on the photo: “A large “Alligator” on the trail but fortunately behind the fence!  I could not believe my eyes.  I have never been so close to such a dangerous animal!”

Wow, Angeline, that was a close encounter of the alligator kind!

Gary Wittstock took the photo below of a mama gator and her young ones on Windsong Way on March 1, 2015.  Mom looks so ferocious, and we know she can be especially when she is protecting her babies, but she can also be so gentle with those babies. Click on the photo to enlarge it and then zoom in to see all the baby alligators to Mom’s right and don’t miss the baby on her head!
