Raccoon Photo Album

Welcome to the TGO Nature Center’s Raccoon Photo Album.  Sometimes referred to as “bandits” because of the coloration around their eyes resembling a mask, these mammals are frequent visitors to our yards and bird feeders at TGO.  Enjoy the photos below submitted by TGO residents.  Click on any photo to get an “up close and personal” view of these mammals.

Pat Ellwanger shot the photo below on February 16, 2016 of these frequent visitors to her back yard.  These little guys or gals are just so darn cute!

Pat Ellwanger sent in the photo below on January 7, 2016 with this description:  “This mama raccoon and baby were on the nature trail behind our house on Sunset. The other babies were in the ditch.”  Thanks Pat.

When Pat Ellwanger sent me the two photos below, she explained:  “We saw a mama raccoon and 3 babies on the nature trail north of Greenwing and before Sunset. Was able to get a picture of 2 babies. One on the ground and one in a tree.”   That Raccoon in the tree does not look happy about being disturbed.

Jim Dick sent us the photo below with this  story of his encounter with this little bandit.

“I caught this little guy on the nature trail Sunday. He was in the backyard of a Chalet. When he saw me, he scurried under the fence and then slowly worked his way through the tall grass until he got past me. Finally, he came back out and grabbed what appeared to be a piece of fried chicken.”

Thanks, Jim!

We always ask that folks not feed the wildlife.  Fried chicken is definitely not on a Raccoon’s diet.  Maybe it got into someone’s garbage.
