TGO Nature Center Kayaking Destinations


Deep Creek — Mostly shaded, lots of woods.

From the TGO archway to Deep Creek — 46.5 miles. About a 1-hour drive.

Take I-95 North, Exit 223 (SR46, Sanford/Mims). Go west on SR46 to Rte 415 (25.7 miles).

Go right on Rte 415 and continue for 6 miles.

After a Texaco Station and Public Works/Fire Station on the left, turn right onto New Smyrna Blvd.

Then, an almost immediate left onto Florida Avenue (Osteen_Maytown Rd).

Drive 5.2 miles to a bridge. Park along side of the road. Best to head east.


Turkey Creek — Some sun, some shade, some houses. When you get near the sanctuary, it becomes extremely pristine.

From TGO — 52 miles. About an hour drive.

I-95 South to Exit 173, SR514 (45.3 miles).

Left on SR514 for 4.2 miles

Left on US1 to Port Malabar Blvd (1.6 miles)

Turn left on Port Malabar Blvd.

Drive .4 miles and turn right into Goode Park Boat Ramp. Go .6 miles to entrance to ramp.

Driving straight on Port Malabar Blvd brings you to the sanctuary/visitor center for your enjoyment.


Middle Econ River — Very pristine. About a 4-6 hour paddle.

From TGO — 25.3 miles. About a 35 minute drive.

West on Rte 50 – 18.9 miles.

Turn right on Chuluota Rd (Rte 419)

Go 6.4 miles to Little Econ Boat Launch . Drop off boats.

Car drop off: Go back 2.1 miles

Left on Snow Hill Road

Drive 3.3 miles to Snow Hill Bridge. Park cars and return to Little Econ to start.


Lower Econ River — Again very pristine, flows into St. John’s River. A 10-mile paddle. Best to have southerly wind.

From TGO – 35.3 miles. About a 45-minute drive.

West on Rt 50 – 18.9 miles

Right on Chuluota Rd (Rte419) — 4.3 miles

Right on Snow Hill Rd – 3.3 miles

Arrive at Snow Hill Bridge and unload boats

Car drop off: Continue on Snow Hill Road – 3 miles

Turn right on Rte 426 – 0.9 miles

Turn right on Rte 46 – 4.9 miles

Six-Mile Creek

From TGO – 13 miles. About a 20-minute drive

I-95 North to Rte 46 – 10.5 miles

West on Rte 46 – 2.5 miles

Launch area on the right


River Breeze Boat Ramp — Mosquito Lagoon (Oak Hill)

I-95 North to Exit 231 East (Rte 5A) – 16.2 miles

East for 1 mile till you get to Rte 1.

North on Rte 1 – 9 miles

Watch for brown sign (River Breeze Park) on right – 0.4 miles


Sunrise Park — Mosquito Lagoon

I-95 North to Exit 231 East (Rte 5A) – 16.2 miles

East for 1 mile till you get to Rte 1.

North on Rte 1 for about 7 miles to Halifax Rd (blinking overhead light)

Turn right and drive about one mile. The road will bear sharply left and becomes River Rd.

Drive 0.8 miles and Sunrise Park will be on the right.

After kayaking, either bring lunch or eat at Goodrich Restaurant next door.


Old Government Cut — Mosquito Lagoon (Edgewater)

I-95 North to Exit 244

Go east on Rte 442 for approximately 5 miles and then cross Rte 1.

Drive a short distance until you reach a dead end.

Turn left on Riverside Drive and proceed to the boat launch/park about a mile or so on the right.


1,000 Islands — Indian River Lagoon (Cocoa Beach)

I-95 South to the beachline (Rte 528)

Head East past the cruise lines.

Road will turn into A1A.

Travel past Rte 520 and Ron Jons.

Stay on A1A until you see 5th street on the right after the split in the road. (There is another 5th street prior to that)

Take right onto 5th street, then left, and sharp right onto Ramp Road. Goes right into boat launch area. Picnic area and rest rooms.


Deleon State Park

I-95 North 34 miles to Exit 249.

Head west for 17.6 miles.

Turn right on Rt 4101 (Kepler Rd), and drive 2.7 miles.

Turn left on US-92 and drive 2.6 miles.

Turn right on Rt 17N (will go by Walmart).

Drive 5.8 miles and turn left and continue in to the park.

One way trip = 55 miles.


Fox Lake — Titusville

From TGO, go under I-95 and take left at lights onto Rte 405 North.

Continue on Rte 405 until you get to Fox Lake Road (2nd set of lights).

Take left and follow into park.

Continue into park until you get to the boat ramp.


Haulover Canal — Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge

I-95 North to next exit (Rte 406) – Garden Street

Take right and continue past Rte 1 over the Causeway Bridge.

Rte 406 will bear left and go by Black Point Wildlife Drive.

When the road ends, take left on Rte 3.

After you go over the Haulover Canal Bridge, take 1st left (a paved/dirt road.

Continue to end and launch from there.


Wekiva River (Katies Landing) — Sanford

I-95 North to exit 223 (Rt. 46)

Drive West 27.5 miles to Sanford, turn right on Rt. 17/92/ & 46.

Drive 1.7 miles and take left to follow Rt. 46.

Follow Rt. 46 for 8.6 miles and take right on Wekiva Park Drive (shortly after I-4 crossover).

After 1 mile take left on dirt road into canoe launch area.


Turnbull Creek

I-95 North to Exit 231 East (Rte 5A) – 16.2 miles

East for 1 mile till you get to Rte 1.

Turn left and drive 3.7 miles to Turnbull Creek.

Cross over bridge and park on right side of road; there is an area you can put your kayaks in.


Sykes Creek

Route 50 East to Route 95 South to 528 East to Exit #52.

Turn right on Banana River Drive. Go to fork in road (Marina in middle), keep left (still Banana River Drive) to Rt 520.

Go right (West), .8 mile to Kiwanis Park on right.
