On October 18, 2016, this black racer was found entangled in bird netting that was placed around an owners shrubs to protect them from the deer. Unfortunately, these snakes are known to enter these areas and get caught up in the mesh. They continue to push forward and get so entangled they cannot get out. It took about 20 minutes to extract him. Thankfully he remained calm while I cut him out of the mesh. If you feel the need to use the netting, please keep an eye out for these wonderful snakes.
