This poor black racer was caught up into a large tangle of bird netting in many places on its body. It was doomed to die if Ed & Sylvia Cote had not spotted it in their yard. It took about a half hour of painstaking cutting to release the plastic netting. It was closely embedded into the body. With a little patience and thinking the snake realized I was helping it, we got it done. He is now residing in my back yard.  It is important to not leave that plastic netting along the ground. Keep it up a few inches so these wonderful creatures won’t get wrapped up in it. If you are leaving for the season, please remove it. The snakes of TGO thank you!
