Visitor Letter

Visitor Letter

On April 8, 2015, the TGO Nature Center received the following letter from a visitor.  This letter is a real testament to our volunteers and donors who made the TGO Nature Center a reality and who keep the organization running!

Hello TGO Nature Center!

My name is Punkin and I recently came to visit my sister Joey and her dear friends who live in TGO. I am from Carlsbad, California. I am an avid nature lover and volunteer at our Batiquitos Lagoon Nature Center. Our center showcases hawks, egrets and some pelican skulls. In Carlsbad, we think nature is seeing a seagull or pelican!

On my first visit to your nature center I was humbled by my experience. I was shocked to find your front door unlocked!  Your grounds and surroundings are so inviting, and represent peace and tranquility that only nature can provide. I was alone in your oasis and I have to say I was overwhelmed by what I saw. I was not prepared to see such a special place you have created for those lucky enough to experience it. It took me a few minutes to believe what I was seeing! Your collections are the most extensive I have ever seen! Each display case was expertly done just as a museum curator would proudly put together to share what is outside and guaranteed to see or any given day in TGO and Florida! I felt a true connection with every bird, reptile, mammal and the skeletal remains. I wanted to stay in your oasis forever!

Your center has accomplished so much in 5 years since you opened your center, your pride and love of your surroundings is to be congratulated.  Thank you for reminding me that we are just a small part of God’s wonders. Your center and its volunteers connect residents and visitors that nature is all around is, you just have to look! And in TGO it’s every minute of every day!

Lastly, a special thank you to the volunteers who put their telescope out so we could see up close the new baby pair of Great horned owls nesting in the palm tree on Oak Cove. We saw the mother watching from a nearby tree.  It was a special moment for me and it is amazing how these two babies bring the neighbors together. I can’t wait to come back!
